My research topic focuses on plant community patterns and their determinants. My roots are in Spain and I did my PhD research in the Bertiz forest of Navarra, where I examined the main factors (biotic and abiotic) that influence multi-scale spatial patterns of plant communities. As a member of the marcoecology workgroup, I studied the influence of environmental heterogeneity and biotic processes (i.e. seed dispersal and vegetative growth) on plant community patterns. Specifically, I was interested in disentangling how species coexistence and the determinants vary depending on the spatial scale.
