Dr. Nele Ingerpuu

Associate Professor in Botany

I am a bryologist focusing on the ecology and conservation of bryophytes. My research topics have included the interactions of bryophytes and vascular plants, the effects of management and climate on bryophyte diversity, the global patterns of bryophytes, the habitat preferences of rare bryophytes and their competitive ability. Together with students and collaborators we currently aim to identify the factors determining freshwater and mire bryophyte distribution and their diaspore bank interactions with above-ground plants, as well as the composition of epiphytic bryophytes in tropical rain forests with different management regimes.
