Blanca Luz Caleño Ruiz

Doctoral student

During my PhD studies, I will focus on the global variation of functional traits in vascular plants. Several studies have mapped functional spectra of different plant traits, across different taxonomic groups and scales, but most of them have only focused on aboveground traits, despite the importance of belowground traits on plant and ecosystem functioning. I aim to incorporate belowground traits into the global spectrum of plant form and function, to predict future effects of global change on plant community assembly and ecosystem functioning at a global scale. My supervisor is Carlos Carmona.
