Slendy participated in the INTECOL 2022 conference in Switzerland

19.09.2022

The INTECOL 2022 conference took place in Geneva, Switzerland on Aug 28 - Sep 2. From our workgroup, Slendy participated in the workshop with a presentation on the topic "Intraspecific hydraulic trait variation influences plant growth in Colombian Tropical Dry Forest". She evaluated the relationships between biomass growth and wood anatomical traits related to the hydrualic safety and efficiency trade-off. This evaluation was at the individual level, intraindividual level, and intraspecific level. In general, the significant relationships found were weak, but at intraspecific level, some relations show the importance of the fiber wall, vessel density and vessel area for the growth of some native species of the Colombian Tropical Dry Forest.  Finally, only in one community out of 10, the funcional redundancy showed that the greater the similarity of hydraulic traits within-species, the lower their growth.

This study was done within the framework of Slendy's internship in Colombia, which was supported by the Dora Plus scholarship.
