This spring the functional ecology part of our workgroup was very busy, because they were collecting trait data for Mediterranean plant species during the months of April and May. They made three trips to different regions in Spain (Almería, Valencia and Spain) to sample a wide selection of different plant communities and habitat types. With the much appreciated help of local scientists they collected above- and belowground trait data for over 240 species that hadn't been sampled before. This data helps to disentangle the variation of above- and belowground traits in Europe and at the global scale.
