Applications from fall 2020

You are invited to take part in the 6th edition, which will be running in winter term 2021. The winter term start usually in the first week of October, or last week of Spetember, but the first field course is already scheduled from mid-September, and will be held in south Moravia. The new edition of the module “Quantitative Ecology” will be taught at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, České Budějovice, Czech Republic. The module was given, for the first time, in the winter term 2011, next editions in winter terms of odd years (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) and it will be open again in the winter term 2021 (October to January). We invite Master and PhD students aiming to learn updated concepts and methodologies for quantitative ecology studies. In previous editions, the number of participants had mostly increasing tendency. Because we have just limited capacity, it might be necessary to select the participants, if there will be too many applicants. For this reason, we need to have your application before April 10 - later applications will be accepted only when there is a space. We have selected ten main courses, all taught in English, that form the core of the module. The courses are focused on both, the ecological theory and the analysis and interpretation of ecological data using modern computational approaches (using CANOCO, R etc.). Most of the courses are taught weekly, through the whole semester. This edition will start again (for those interested, not obligatorily for all) with the Field course in the second half of September. In the next week, we will have a fiel part of practicals for the Community Ecology course (recommended for those enrolled in Community Ecology, but if you do not managed, no problem). The module will be run concurrently with the Master program in Ecology taught in English, so we hope to have large international community here.

A flyer of the course is available in order for you to announce more easily this module to interested students.
