Our PhD student Bruno recently wrote an educational poem about biodiversity.\u00a0The original poem is in Portuguese (Bruno is from Brazil), and forms an acrostic with the word biodiversity (biodiversidad<\/em>), which, along with the education process, are the central topics of the poem. The poem was published in a book \"Entre o Sono e o Sonho\" (\"Between Sleep and Dream\"). While the rhyme is evident only by reading the poem in its original language, the essence of the message can be appreciated in the English translation, which Bruno has provided here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Educar para a biodiversidade conservar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

B<\/strong>iodiversidade n\u00e3o \u00e9 algo meramente atual, \u00e9 fruto de longa hist\u00f3ria evolutiva,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I<\/strong>ncompar\u00e1vel, sem par, sem individual prerrogativa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

O<\/strong> nosso dever, sem atraso adicional, \u00e9 preservar e dela cuidar,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D<\/strong>iante disso, a pr\u00f3xima gera\u00e7\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m dela poder\u00e1 desfrutar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

I<\/strong>ntrinseca \u00e9 sua beleza, mas muitos n\u00e3o entendem sua import\u00e2ncia,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V<\/strong>alorizam, em detrimento da biodiversidade, nossa relativa grandeza e gan\u00e2ncia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E<\/strong>duca\u00e7\u00e3o e conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o o que urgentemente devemos compartilhar,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R<\/strong>evelando que a biodiversidade, na verdade, \u00e9 a nossa pr\u00f3pria vida a pulsar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

S<\/strong>ob uma urbaniza\u00e7\u00e3o intensa e consumo desenfreado,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I<\/strong>sso nos p\u00f5e \u00e0 beira do colapso, cujo limite j\u00e1 foi at\u00e9 calculado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D<\/strong>e toda forma, n\u00e3o podemos aceitar tal destino,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A<\/strong>final, temos esperan\u00e7a, a qual hoje chamamos de menina e menino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

D<\/strong>evemos agir com coragem e sabedoria,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E<\/strong> assim garantir que a biodiversidade flores\u00e7a, dia ap\u00f3s dia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Permitindo n\u00e3o s\u00f3 que ela seja conservada,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mas que permane\u00e7a sendo constantemente aprimorada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Cuidemos das \u00e1guas, das florestas, do ar,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para que todas as formas de vida prossigam a prosperar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Com a uni\u00e3o de esfor\u00e7os, haver\u00e1 mais esperan\u00e7a,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education for biodiversity conservation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biodiversity is not a simple snapshot, it is the result of a long evolutionary history,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incomparable, without peer, without individual prerogative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our duty, without further delay, is to preserve and take care of it,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just so, the next generation will also be able to enjoy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Its beauty is intrinsic, but many do not understand its importance,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some prioritize, to the detriment of biodiversity, our relative greatness and greed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education and awareness are what we urgently must share,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revealing that biodiversity, in fact, is our own life pulsating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Under intense urbanization and unchecked consumption<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We find ourselves on the brink of collapse, a limit already calculated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, we cannot accept such a fate,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all, we have hope, which today we call girl and boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

We must act with courage and wisdom,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And thus, ensure that biodiversity flourishes, day after day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allowing not only its conservation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But its continuous progress and upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Let's take care of water, forests, and air,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that all forms of life can continue to thrive and fare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the unity of our efforts, there will be more hope,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
