The aims of my thesis are to study the factors behind the rareness of mire moss species both in Estonia and Europe, and to determine their survival potential in human-influenced novel communities. I also study if rare mire species could survive in bryophyte diaspore bank which could help to restore natural species composition in suitable environments. The results of my thesis will help to better protect mire ecosystems as well as conserve rare moss species in Estonia and Europe.
