I have a broad interest in unravelling interactions of plants with their environment, especially in high latitude and altitude environments. I seek to understand those interactions on multiple ecological scales (communities, individual plants and genetics) to obtain a broader overview from multiple perspectives of plant communities and individuals. I am interested in novel approaches and methods applied to retain and facilitate ecosystem services of managed and unmanaged ecosystems.

As a post-doc in Tartu I shall evaluate consequences of landscape changes (i.e. habitat fragmentation) on the genetic diversity of plants in Alvar grasslands. My main tool for this landscape genetic approach will be the powerful and versatile technique of next-generation sequencing. The results of this work shall advance our understanding of the interplay of the landscape and the genetic structure of species, and will allow us to assess the effectiveness of grassland restoration and conservation projects.
