My studies aim to disentangle the effects of habitat loss, historical and current spatial habitat structure and human influence on different aspects of biodiversity. My special interest belongs to the temporal dynamics of biodiversity in response to land-use changes i.e. extinction debt and colonization credit. My work is often conducted on species-rich calcareous grasslands called alvars, but I also carry out work in other types of habitats in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe. In recent years, I have been more actively participating in habitat restoration, covering both
theoretical and practical aspects.
See my CV and publication list in ETIS (Estonian Research Portal).
