My research was on dark diversity of plant species (species that are missing from the otherwise suitable community; or the missing part of species pool). I focused on the scale of Europe. By comparing the observed and dark diversity it is possible to study the origin of plant diversity in Europe as well as develop ideas for preserving it. My PhD thesis was supervised by Prof. Meelis Pärtel.
